As part of the 3rd year undergraduate unit Character & Set Design we were required to complete two coursework assignments to understand the fundamental concepts of 3D modelling using Autodesk's Maya.
The 2nd coursework assignment revolved around the creation of materials, textures and much more, all contributing towards a final rendered image (shown left, additional renders shown bottom). The final render utilised a variety of techniques in order to maximise & improve realism such as mental ray, global illumination, final gathering, caustics, ambient occlusion and more.
Mark received: 1st (74%)
The 1st coursework assignment was purely to grasp an understanding of modelling geometry using a combination of NURB, Polygon & Sub-divided surfaces. As shown right, I chose to model one of Bristol's many landmarks: Cabot Tower on Brandon Hill.
Mark received: 1st (92% Highest mark in unit)
